Creating a project

A project is one repository's worth of test configuration — its framework, its build environment, and the suites that run against it.

Starting the wizard

Start New Project from your dashboard. You'll pick a repository two ways:

  • From your GitHub connection — a picker listing every repository your installation has access to.
  • By URL — paste a repository URL directly, for a repo you haven't connected via GitHub (or don't want to).

Autodetection

Once you've picked a repository, Kiwami clones it and runs autodetection: looking at lockfiles, config files, and test directory conventions to guess the project's framework (Playwright, Robot Framework, Cypress, or a custom image) and propose one or more test suites. This runs asynchronously — you'll see a short polling page while it works.

Confirming

Autodetection's proposal is a starting point, not a final answer — the confirmation step lets you review and adjust the detected framework and suites before the project is actually created. Nothing is saved until you confirm.

What happens next

Confirming creates the project and kicks off its first environment build — a container image baked from the repository's own dependency lockfile, cached by a hash of that lockfile so a later push that doesn't change dependencies reuses the same image instead of rebuilding from scratch.

Next: Triggering runs.
